Whooping Crane Festival 2025 Events. A festival celebrating the annual migration of sandhill and whooping cranes to wheeler national wildlife refuge, events take place at a variety of locations including the refuge's visitor center. In partnership with the international crane foundation, we’re excited to invite you to a community litter cleanup event for our wintering whooping cranes and sandhill cranes on nov.

To kick off the series, we headed to port aransas for the town’s annual whooping crane festival. Each year since 1996, the whooping crane festival celebrated the annual return of the cranes to their wintering habitat at the aransas national wildlife refuge.
